Spectral Transfer in Plasma Turbulence

Recent highlights in studies of the spectral transfer in plasma turbulence:
  • The inverse energy cascade in the turbulent spectra [1-2] leads to the generation of the broadband turbulence.

  • There are indications that a local (cascade-type) transfer may co-exist and even be replaced by a non-local spectral transfer. In this case strong coherent structures, such as zonal flows may be spectrally coupled to unstable drift waves [3].
